Glass Eater

Glass Eater

A Poem by Mercy Fae
"

A poem showing metaphors and true emotions.

"
I eat the shards of glass, metaphorically.
I skip meals, in reality.

I shove glass through my heart to create the same level of pain.
If done in reality, that amount of pain would kill me.

But the emotional pain already has.

I sit in hallways, alone and isolated.
Looking through a one way window.

I see others, but I'm invisible to them.
As they pass and remain unaware.

If I were to stain the glass dark blue,
And cut them into shapes of tears.
All would know how it feels to cry from this type of pain.
Shards of glass streaming endlessly down my face.

Ouch. It's true that those who live "normal" lives can't imagine the pain of struggling with yourself. A little compassion can go a long way to stopping any form of self harm. But sometimes it isn't enough just to be accepted.
