Don't wish to die

Don't wish to die

A Poem by Oliver Silvermane

Don't wish to die
keep dreaming till you die
shatter
burn
give up
and come back like an ocean wave

you are too precious
you have always been precious;
an uncut gem
gradually polished
by the grindstone of time

guard your dreams
like an eagle guarding its nest,
hide your pain
in front of the world,
cry out loud
in your bedroom,
but don't wish to die

too many dreams gone
with the tides,
too many souls lost early,
if only they had waited a day longer
or bled a mile more
history would have been richer
with more tales of courage
raw and grand

don't wish to die
keep dreaming till you die

Sadly people can become overwhelmed by events and take their own lives. With many, it is a cry for help. Help to stop the pain they are going through. The world has lost many great talents as a result of mental health problems. I see this poem as a tribute to them but also a warning that anyone could find themselves in this situation. A thoughtful composition on the plight of the vulnerable. A compassionate poem.
