Skinny Dipping Haiku

Skinny Dipping Haiku

A Poem by Honeypot
"

This is a Haiku series about...skinny dipping.

"

All day I waited
Finally the sun went down
And I snuck outside

Near the water’s edge
Pausing to look around me
Alone in the dark

Crickets invited
So I started to remove
Clothes that clung with sweat

With a sigh I dove
Beneath the cool dark surface
Smooth relief at last

Floating on my back
Gazing up at twinkling stars
What could be better?

Doesnt a haiku 'anthology' of sorts, defy the essance of haiku?

From what I understand, a haiku is meant to capture a moment in it's purity; not tell a story.

Simply because of the fact that it took you 5 haiku to tell what should have taken one, seems to be counter-intuitive.

This is an entertaining poem, but not an effective haiku I think.

Reminds me of skinny dipping as a kid. It always felt so good. Thanks for sharing!
