I will Never Forget.

I will Never Forget.

A Poem by Sarah Flanigan
"

"How can I ever forget? I will never forget, I will never forget." -Kimya Dawson.

"
I will never forget...
The punched-in-the-gut feeling
when I got that call at 10:47 P.M.
on August 16, 2013.
Michael told me through the tears
that Beverly had been in a car wreck
and she hadn't made it.
I will never forget, I can't.
I'll never forget...
As the front wheels of my mom's Camry
crossed over the line into the town
I had vowed to never enter again,
and only went back to then for the memorial service,
We Live by Superchick came on the radio.
I had to pull over, I was sobbing so hard.
I will never forget, I can't.
I will never forget...
being a terrified twelve year-old,
crying in the school bathroom.
The words from the bullies
still stung like a hundred bees.
Beverly came in and sat with me
on that gross bathroom floor.
She hugged me as I cried all over her.
I will never forget, I can't.
I will never forget...
in 2010, it had been raining for 3 days straight.
we were all sick and tired of the rain.
School was cancelled due to flooding.
I looked out my kitchen window to see
Beverly dancing in the rain on her front lawn
like nothing mattered.
I ran out to join her.
I will never forget, I can't.
I will never forget...
The way her laugh
made my heart leap and my soul sing.
The way her eyes lit up
when she was about to do something mischievous.
The way her smile
could light up every single corner of the darkest room.
I will never forget, I can't.

Visceral is a word you could use to describe this.

Sometimes we ARE blessed enough that we don't forget ...but sometimes still other "things" take them away. A very strong yet sensitive writing...
