Gaza Genocide

Gaza Genocide

A Poem by Hossain Belal
"

"Gaza Genocide" is a haunting and impassioned poetic lament that confronts the brutal realities of war, specifically the suffering of civilians in Gaza. With stark imagery and restrained yet powerful

"

There were people there"
Men, women, children"
There were homes,
Laughter and tears,
Animals, birds,
And a desperate will to live.

In their hearts lived a belief:
Someone, somewhere, would stand beside them in peril.
And if no one came"
They trusted
Some divine power
Would protect them
From hunger, death, and slaughter.

My ancestors,
Who worshipped that power for thousands of years"
That power now seems silent,
Muted, voiceless.

All we hear now"
Are the cries of women,
The screams of children,
The roar of rifles,
The rumble of tanks,
The thunder of bombs.

Was our sense of justice a lie?
Has our pledge to stand for humanity
Turned hollow?

How much longer
Must the voices of the righteous
Remain silent
Before the war-mongers of this world?

I do not want a world
Where the voice of humanity
Is drowned
In the noise of destruction.

This is a powerful piece of poetry that speaks like a prayer to every human heart. It asks a question of each of us, a morale question. I am moved by your words and the plight within them. I am a firm believer that in the silence of not speaking out against inhumanity and injustice makes us complicit in the actions done. My hope is that your words awaken the world to this truth. CLE
