Moments With A Kyoto Geisha

While rain tapped on the window,

meditating the previous year

of a geisha woman.

It was in a Kyoto hanamachi

he'd first seen her.

She danced in a way

that prompted a seductive nature,

things a geisha would never do in public.

But, her eyes ...

sent shivers down his spine,

it was in the way she glanced at him.

Her graceful movements,

elegantly as slow falling leaves,

delicate as cherry blossoms in spring.

On her beautiful silken kimono

she wore vibrant asagao,

kaneshon and ajisai.

Yet, in his reflections of her,

one evening

the kimono slid off

~like a softly floating feather.

A most original poem thematically, and one which you should guard carefully before the “Inspiration Thieves” become attached to it.

I have never been to Japan before but the Geisha hold a prominent position in any foreigners psyche. There is something both beautiful and forbidden about them and the way they dress and carry themselves. I think your poem does them justice in its own way with hints of forbidden romanticism thrown in for good measure. I learned something new with your additional definitions and enjoyed the poem in its entirety.

A moment perfectly captured in words Relic. One of those moments where you suddenly forget and then panic at you being unable to remember how to breathe, which is why in the days of health and safety there really should be a user's manual for life, because I seriously doubt turning it off and on again would work.
But once you get over it, you are left with a memory perfectly tattooed on your mind.
