Gender Equality

Equality not hierarchy

We are told what to do
They decide who we’ll be
This old not new
And just isn’t me

Gender has become a barrier
Instead of connecting us
It makes the world wearier

Of men wearing pink
And women blue
Boys playing with dolls
And girls with blocks and trucks too

Men and women
Are looked upon as different
Stereotypes have been made
And our world today
Won't let them fade

Throughout human existence
Power becomes a fight to the death
Without a thought to how the rest
Will be affected

People are strong
We have muscles and brains
Humans have fought many battles
Of which someone has won...
And gender equality is another one

Its not about hierarchy
Not for revenge
Not that women are better than men

But because we are all people
Who lead different lives
We are connected through strength and love
And not through lies

There will still be wars raging on
And viruses will spread
Natural disasters to will occur
And sometime we will all be dead

But we have today
And right now
To decide what to do
And to find a key
To gender equality

Now is always the future
Compared to the the past
We, as people,
Should often ask
How can we change?
What should stay the same?
How do we survive?
What can we do to thrive?

In our everyday lives
We see the boundaries
That has lead society to inequality

Everyone is different
No two people the same
But we should have equal opportunities
Even when life is like a game

Don't hold us to standards
So much I can do
Without you saying to me
“I’m better than you”

One step to help each other
And help yourself too
Rise above the stereotypes
And make the obstacles move

She runs like a girl
And he thinks like a boy
But labels like this
Don’t help to add joy

It not whether you are

Female or male
A man or woman
Boy or girl
Feminine or masculine

But who your are as a person
What you do
And how you see
