Dichotomy

Dichotomy

A Poem by I.F.W. Davis

Torn between the lake & the land
like a god damn ampersand
and it’s getting out of hand,
body asunder,
hungry for a sense of wonder
that SLAPS like the pitter-patter
POW of a July thunder,
temporal blunders
under the cover of fright-
despite best intentions
I just couldn’t get this right,
a mind defined by a lack thereof-
but I’m not above it.

It’s in the budget.
