Mornings

Mornings

A Poem by Dani Sarza

Mornings

I love the way the sun seeps through the blinds and the warmth dancing on the small wooden surface of my coffee table.

I love the smell of homemade coffee and expresso beans in the morning.

I love walking around with a shirt that reaches no more than the tops of my knees.

I love sitting on counter tops instead of chairs

and reading poems

and avocado toast

and dark chocolate.

I love the way my dog sleeps on his back.

And soft barks he makes when he’s dreaming.

I love the feeling of my bare feet kissing wooden floors and gentle carpets.

I love the way quilts wrap me in a gentle embrace.

And the comforting silence of daybreak.

 Good Morning, My love.

This is home.
