And I Wonder

I got to thinking one night. This was what came of it.

Sometimes, late at night
when the moon is full
and the stars are
swaying ever so gently
amid the cosmic din,
I wonder-
Do they see me?
and I wonder-
do I want them to see me?
and I wonder-
Who are they,
that I should want
so very much for them
to see me?

Sometimes, late at night,
with the passing of
a cheery breeze, they
kiss me, only once each,
kiss away the hidden tears
and I wonder-
is it wrong to cry?
and I wonder-
do they really hear
the things I whisper
sometimes, late at night,
when the moon is full,
and the stars are
swaying ever so gently
amid the cosmic din?

And I wonder.
