A fading yarn

A fading yarn

A Poem by Abhra

Give it a name, something colloquial, something easy
like 'there'. Like the city you have left. Far behind.
Or somewhere you have arrived with your baggage.
You stitch the time and place with hashtags.
#Nowandheresmoothly.

And It stays like that. In your mind. Your world
hanging in the balance between two little words. There and here.
With the spaces erased out abruptly.
Like the drops of rain collecting on windows.

History slowly pickling into shadows. With that name.
There.here.Memories.Without a flood of light.
So much of life slowly hushing
away.... You see it from the window of a leaving train.
The station disappearing. Unhurriedly. You knew it intimately in your mind.
You knew all the places where you had left things.
the things that grazed you.
You knew the places where you had hickies.
By heart.

You knew those places.
the way you know love
the way you know loss...
you live through it all
to understand that memories end for you too.

An interesting write, for sure, with good use of language. Gritty, but poetic too. ~ Robert.

The only difference being the "T" between there and here, something about that is ringing bells in my brain, hashtags what a great word as colloquial, not necessarily being a bad conversational name. Memories die for us all, even what they meant to us, eventually, like smells and sounds are the last to go, like laughter. Memory holds on to the most significant sense of a person, place or thing. Triggers emotional response once jostled a bit. Loved the whole write, never disappointed by your writing, always a sigh in passing like:
