Fly

Fly

A Poem by Micheala Dover
"

A mother loses her child to sickness.

"
My children ask me
About their lover dad
I tell them the same thing
Time after time

"Your dad is an angel
Flying up above
Watching over you."

My child is sick
I cry when he sleeps
I pray to his dad
To watch over him

My child get's worse
He's turned a sickly pale
His shiny hair is dull
His eyes don't sparkle
I cry and pray again

My child is gone
He's turned into an angel
His dull hair is shiny
His eyes sparkle
I don't cry anymore

My child spoke,
Before he left
He whispered in my ear

"I'm going to be an angel
Just like my dad.
I'll fly up above,
I'll watch overhead."

My child smiled lightly
His lips slightly chapped
His heavy lids fluttered
As he fell asleep

People ask me how I fare
My husband and child gone
I just smile, and tell them

"He's going to be an angel
Just like his dad
He'll fly up above,
He'll watch overhead."
