Patchwork wings

Patchwork wings

A Poem by paperdaydreams

You feel like you're falling into nothing
But you can learn to fly
You don't have to let your smile die
Your wings may not be made of feathering
Swooping arcs of delicate silk
Instead that bottle top from the milk
You tipped into the tea you drank
With your mum as she told you
We're going to make it through
And the guitar strings you stroked
Sellotaped to the tattered pages
Of that book you read through the ages
Wedged together with your paint brushes,
A well worn teddy bear and the photo frame,
A Bastille album and a video game
These wings are more beautiful
Than the angel Gabriel's own
If only earlier you could of known
The secret of flight was hidden
In each little smile
But now you see, flap your patchwork wings, and soar for a mile.

Wow, I like this poem. Really unique and inspirational. What you are and your true self and talent should become your 'wings'. Very nice.
