A True Dream

A True Dream

A Poem by Impax55

This change has taken over me
Tearing apart my devil within

I shall no longer be
The type of man I fear
And my tattoo of a target
Will fade from my skin

Answer to me not
For he doesn’t exist
No more chambers of lead
No more left lanes to risk

I’ll clear my lungs
Of all its toxins
And wipe my nose
Of all its lies

Let’s use our real names
And drink from the tap
Starting from the beginning
I’ll cry and I’ll bleed

Stop. Am I alive?
Am I awake?
My scars remain
But this pressure is gone

I’ve just tasted
What most dream to taste
And that in this is
A second chance

Intricate. I see your presence in this. '

Your scars remain... interior or exterior?

They are different you know.
