Free in the Past, Trapped in the Present

Free in the Past, Trapped in the Present

A Poem by Maddy
"

Before he showed up, I was fine and dandy. Well, now that's different.

"

I was happy and carefree

Nothing to worry about

There wasn't a thing to question

Not a single thought of doubt

I wish it was still that way

When I didn't ever care

About what I did or what I said

When things weren't so unfair

Ever since you came to town

My life has totally changed

I don't act the way I used to

I feel that I'm deranged

Now I'm cautious when you're near

I'm scared of what you might think

Of how I would act normally

Because you're my missing link

I don't want you to leave me

If you're truly my soul mate

So I'll put on this act for you

And stay trapped behind this gate
