Age Of Accountability

Age Of Accountability

A Story by LATINO HEAT

You remember when life was much simpler when we could come
and go as we please.Yeah,me too.

Then we grew up,got fat(or fatter in my case, lol)and life
took its toll on us.We all had the trials of life kick the dog s**t out of us.Then
all the passion and fight we had seemed to dissipate and we decided that status
quo be the norm.We almost became numb to what
was going on around us.I guess the thought process is,if it doesn’t
affect me,I don’t care.

I mean it has to be that, right? How else do you explain us as
a society giving a pass to Alex Rodriguez for his steroid abuse or Chris Brown
for assaulting(allegedly)Rihanna.Weren’t both of them wrong?Oh that’s
right,A-Rod got all teary eyed at his press conference and Chris Bown is “consulting”
his pastor.After all,who knows,it could have been Rihanna’s fault,right?I mean
I cannot tell you how many times I have been pissed at the opposite and fairer
sex for a myriad of reasons.Trust me, most men, and women for that matter, can
attest to doing stupid s**t to get the other’s blood boiling. But nothing is
justifiable by any means.Yet we ,as  a
society, have had our though process degenerate to what is deemed “acceptable”
and not worthy of holding a person or persons ,accountable for actions or
deeds.To that I say,what the f**k?

Accountability and responsibility go hand in hand. You cannot
have one without the other. But,if you’re in the limelight, chances are, you’ll
get a pass.Trust me,if you thi9nk and look deep into your heart of hearts, you
know it to be true.R Kelly pissed on an underage girl BUT  he makes great music so it’s ok.Alex
Rodriguez claimed he was naïve about taking performance enhancing drugs BUT he
can hit a baseball 500 feet so,again, its gravy.Hell, even Michael Vick is
guaranteed employment once he emerges from incarceration and ,even though he
was held accountable,he will almost assuredly be welcome to whatever team he
gets signed by with open arms. And if he plays well, the short term memory of
most people will give him a pass as well.I can almost guarantee it.

.. ..

See we play God when we see fit.As an unapologetic supporter
of the art and profession  of pro
wrestling, I see this a lot as well.Lack of education ,as my good friend TBird
always denotes, is no excuse for ignorance. When
Chris Benoit murdered his wife and son then hung himself, most people did
not waste one moment  making sure it was
not,by any stretch of the imagination, condonable. And trust me, I  do not
in any way defend that act.i just find it funny how we hold each other
accountable.I think the best way to solve these problems is to put a price on
what it would cost each individual person if they held themselves and others round
them accountable for things that could be life altering like,oh I don’t know, impregnating
a woman you never actually intend to have a future with.My idea for
accountability there would be to cut the muthafucka’s dick off and I am  a guy so I know how attached I am to mine. But
I digress

Like I said,we choose to
be very arbitrary with our calls to judgment.Give me five minutes with
Chris Brown.I  would love to lay hands on
that piece of s**t.Yes I said it, piece of s**t.The unfortunate thing is that
it appears that Rihanna is going to make the classic mistake most women do and
give him a pass if you believe what you read lately. Then again, can you blame
her. She’s been put through so much s**t by us, the public at large, for
basically doing nothing wrong, that she probably feels this is the fastest way
to make this all go away. And so the cycle continues.Even with the economic
crisis that grips this country, we are expecting President Obama to go jump
into the phone booth, put on his cape and shield, and save us .Too bad  it won’t be enough. Not unless we get our
collective heads out of our  collective
asses and start not looking to the next man to make  a determination on whose to blame. We are
accountable.every time we  buy a Chris
Brown CD or an Alex Rodriguez jersey.Ironically, the one person who did
exercise poor judgement but  exercised
tremendous accountability was swimmer Michael Phelps, whose rendeavous
with a bong was caught on photo.Yeah , that was something that was gonna kill
my image of him.Well, I’ve said enough.I gotta go pop a b***h in the mouth
while I’m smoking a blunt listening to Chris Bown,James Brown and Ike Turner
.Get all that?Good, make sure you hold me to that.Late
