True Love

True Love

A Poem by Mark
"

Have you fallen for an image you've created in your mind rather than the actual person you get to know later?

"
Poked through the veil,
there shines small glimpses
of who you are behind there,
like stars in a black sky.
I must allow my eyes
to grow accustomed
to the brilliance
behind the deep veil.
I must not allow my desire
to keep me blinded
to the reality,
the frailty, of you.
I will fall in love
with who you are,
not the you
I want to believe.

I love your descriptions! I find myself thinking uh-oh more often than not, after reading them. You've lived a full life...so it seems from your poetry. You have insight that I admire and one day hope to emulate. Another winner!

For me right now this is an apt piece of work as I may be in just that position! It is what I do best and to my cost. Good flow and a great moral in the telling.

Love allowed to learn what true beauty is. I like your thoughts and the very good ending.
