Storms, Oceans, and Love

Storms, Oceans, and Love

A Poem by Mark
"

Just a fictional write.

"
I felt the storm coming;
raising the color in my eyes.
It was dark and gray lonely,
rushing headlong through the skies.
There was lightning, there was rain
and the air smelled freshly showered.
Thunder rumbling through in pain;
I felt the storm.
Looking west I saw you painted on the sky.
I looked to see if you saw me
as the storm rushed you on by.
But then you were gone, moved on.
Rain drenching me to the skin
Restoring in steam, what I know.
Clean, and never again this fresh
Sun and clouds beam, creating steam below
Love is an ocean pent up each inside.
Some never find it and so never learn
Others can't keep back that holy tide;
when it's coming... they feel the storm.
I might have felt outdrawn
but I swim in my own design
What we never had at all
Doesn't matter, I'll be fine.
And when the clouds come define
and the gray black rolls me over
I'll feel my love aligned
by white streaks of lightning.

As a beginner to poetry, I read poetry like this in search for inspiration. This does exactly that. Full of raw emotion and deep thought. I will definitely be reading more!

Thank you Eva, I look forward to reading some of your work.
I love this line the most|:

Love is an ocean pent up each inside.
Some never find it and so never learn
Others can't keep back that holy tide;
when it's coming... they feel the storm.

It's just so brilliant. And the whole poem is a package of emotions and wit. The rhythm is great, too. Very well-penned, Mark. As always. :x

this is so good...love is the storm that sometimes passes and we don't even see it...there is turbulence in the heart, we feel nervous...then all hell breaks loose...

at the same time love is like this...it can blow us away...and we may not even get to hold on to it...we stay inside ourselves....but we still feel it...

and we know the lightning can strike at any time.

another gem, Mark...

i'm going outside to see if someone i know may be painted on the sky...she is several states over.

well thought of her always rains on me...every day..and i embrace that rain.

I'm very heartened by the fact it moved you. I can't ask for more :)
Mark, this was great, This love came as a storm, drenching you, opening your heart in this downpour and then to look to the horizon to see is she sees you...beautiful my friend.

Thanks my friend. Your praise means a lot.
This is really beautiful...the storm, the loss and the hope in love aligned by white streaks of lightening. A fabulous image I might add. I love the way you used the weather as a metaphor, rain can wash us clean or drown us because love is the deadliest double edged sword.
