Purpose

Purpose

A Poem by Mark
"

The big question

"
And the Universe splintered
Each piece of life, hungry.
Each piece wanting, yearning.

And some splinters were gifted
and damned with thought;
looking at night skies.

And these thoughts always
led to questions: 'WHY?' 'HOW'?
many and none were the answers.

And as the stars dimmed
and the curtains were drawn,
Finally, purpose was discovered.

Slowly the splinters drew
back in to form the One;
and It started again.

'and some splinters were gifted
and damned with thought'

that is paradoxical. on the one hand, like the saying goes, 'i think therefore i am.' thought being equated with who we are as a race. the ability to reason can be as much a curse as it is a gift. esp. when we ask questions that can't be answered. sometimes we just have to have trust in the universe to take care of us and let things unfold the way they should. excellent poem.

I think many things are a duality. It seems to be a Universal law. Thanks for your great comments! .. read more
Artwork and words are amazing. The questions raised by the night leave us wondering about what will come and where will it end? Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Life, the universe, and everything ! And despite popular opinion the answer is not 42, and nor is the question 6 times 8, although that certainly was written down.

No, I have learned for all the great mysteries of the universe, all the incredible questions I might have about this, that, and the other. I tell myself quietly - there's time. There's time yet to know. Just relax, take it easy, enjoy your cup of tea and take it one day at a time. :)

As for the purpose of being here - well - one theory I have is to entertain the gods. And as backwards and naive a species that we are, I suspect we will always be in their sights for this if not in their influence or awareness.

Thanks Leslie. I always look forward to your reviews.
Continous circle...philosophical and beautifully crafted, there sometimes seems no answers...maybe the questions are the answers...xx
