42 Spaces

42 Spaces

A Poem by Mark
"

Memories are shapes, shadows of our past

"
The lights growing dim
I reach for my sin
and watch while
shadows remind, rewind.

In those places
42 spaces
I remember what I've done
blot it out with the sun.

Those shadows.
my shadows.
hold what I've done
the memories I am.

I warp them while I fight
with the memories of light
and zero then one
digital remains of my life.

Holding these places
those 42 spaces
Try to forget what I've done
shadows falling as I run.

My shadows remind me
my shadows still find me
Jumping away from my light
all my memories held there.

Now the light grows more dim
the shadows embrace me
42 spaces under the light
I give in, I remember.

You can't fake questioning.
Memories or shadows of the past have a way of catching up to us. We may weave back and forth...in and and out of the shadows trying to evade them. But ultimately we do give in. Thought provoking lines Mark... :-)

Thank you for reading hon :)
I want to say Mark that his is my absolute favorite of yours. First the title is fantastic! I would have read this poem just because of that. The way you weave through the light and the dark, the harsh and the dim and in the end you don't run from the shadows you look into the spaces and own it all. This is really a great poem and I am happy I dropped in this afternoon and had the honor to read it!
