The Weeping Willow Tree

The Weeping Willow Tree

A Poem by Stellar

We used to always hang around,
The weeping willow tree,
We’d talk and laugh and mess about,
Just us, just you and me.

The tree was like our hideout,
The gateway into our dreams,
It’s shadow was a blanket,
Shielding us from awful things.

Under the tree we could forget,
The pain that came with life,
Under the tree we could ignore,
Our problems and our strife.

Under the tree we were ourselves,
We didn’t need to hide,
Under the tree we could be honest,
We didn’t need to lie.

But then one day the tree was gone,
A stump was all we found,
That day the safety net we’d built,
It all fell to the ground.

Without our tree where would we go,
To hide from all the pain,
Without our tree we had no key,
To unlock all the chains.

We tried to plant a new one but,
It’s growth took far too long,
We’ve only got each other now,
But we’re not very strong.

We used to always hang around,
The weeping willow tree,
But now that tree is gone,
So we have nowhere to be free.
