Can You Hear Me

Can You Hear Me

A Poem by Dawn Jones

Can you hear me?

The words I say, inside my head,

Spoken only beneath the covers of my bed.

Things I’d never say,

Out loud,

In front of you.

Can you hear me?

Pleading daily to see your smile.

That warm inviting smile.

Yearning to catch a glimpse of you.

My heart skipping a beat,

Every time I hear your voice.

Can you hear me?

Words I’d love to say

Die graceless upon my lips

Before they see the light of day.

Broken words,

Lost in bitter streams of jealous thought.

Can you hear me?

You're not alone in wanting to know if you're heard by the person/people you want to hear you the most.
I love this one, beautifully written and written very well at that.
