The Silence of Noise

The Silence of Noise

A Poem by Edurne

Begins with silence hanging submissive

Like blue curtains melting into the ground

Then, sound, a soothing voice

Like a slithering velvet rope for him to cling to

It was poison in the shape of a woman

She asked him again for their past

Their eyes met for only a second

As two strangers

And their shared silence became louder than noise

So loud, you couldn’t hear

The sand singing in the desert

As if it was actually loved

While standing there like stone

Statues melted like wax

Creating an epidemic of past threats

Him, silence, turned her, into noise

Worn noise is the same of silence

And frayed silence is the same as loud

Opposites attract, contrasts don’t

The television noise of white, the silence of black

The uncertain silence of the future, the noise of the past

The appreciative noise of hot, the silence of cold

The political silence of right, the noise of wrong

Then, there is always the annoying voice of reason.

I love that last stanza...all of it is pretty good, mind you, but that last stanza made me stand up and take notice. Very decent write. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
