The Ballad of Twisted Lovers

The Ballad of Twisted Lovers

A Poem by Isabelle S.
"

Enemies to Lovers

"

We are entangled in each other's embrace

Tucked away in the private comforts of my chambers

Your body is so close to mine as you entrap me with temptation

Roots poke at my back

pressed against the dirt wall

I breathe in your intoxicating scent

sweet plums and oak moss

and something else

a bitter tang lingers in the air

I taste of something tart and metallic on my lip

Cherry wine &

Blood.

The cold sting of iron sears against my burning skin

Your touch is as lethal as the blade against my neck.

Thick red liquid puddles at our feet

I become lost in your hateful eyes

golden brown like pools of honey

Call me a fool for loving you

Please put me out of my misery

for I cannot bear this torment any longer.
