Arsenic

Arsenic

A Poem by J. Alicia

How lightly do those harsh words

fall

Rendered in lead

spat from loose tongues as they

dangle limp

from diseased cavities

so nectar-sweet the poison

drips

A hideous scarlet

drop

expanding, exposing paper thin

Skin so brittle

it cracks

But alas it shrouds and floods

the wounds, the waxy drug conceals

Bellies full of raw bleeding meat

satisfied, shallow eyes bulge as the

Poison

Sustains

the Poisoned.
