Juiced

Juiced

A Poem by J. Alicia
"

...

"
The promise I'll keep
remains.
The pulp of it fills my mouth
but I cannot chew the membranes.
Useless
It's useless, you say.
But please
take what you can reach.
spread your fingers to cradle
the comforting weight of a tangerine.
It fits
as if pooled in the center of your hand.
Split the peel,
Feel the pith under your fingernails.
Tender sections-- pick them apart.
let a sticky hug run down your chin.
Juice it
Until nothing
remains.
