Once upon a time
In a land far, far away
We met and fell in love
And rain fell on that day
The ever after was taken
By something sinister and evil
Without heart, without remorse
Empty, sad and lonely of course
And once my eyes opened
I couldn't see you
I felt trapped, alone and sad
Eventually became more than mad
Oh the pain of falling
Gut wrenching loneliness
Drifting down an endless road
Twisted paths, and burdens towed
But I always felt you near
Couldn't explain, I just knew
And I dreamt of you
No fantasy
Over time, lessons learned
Too many times have been burned
But I couldn't wait to fall back to sleep
So I can go back to a dream I could keep
To see you smile
Your eyes looking back at me
Ever still giving me hope
Through it all I felt I could cope
Yet again I awoke to this nightmare
Wishing he would be right there
But it would fade away
The memory never left me
But I always felt you near
Couldn't explain, I just knew
And I dreamt of you
No fantasy
