As one of the leading nations in the world, dominating not only the economy, but also in military force, the United States is brimming with successes. But not all is as it seems. Despite being one of the most successful countries with its advanced technology and many rich exports, the U.S. falls short when it comes to low poverty rates. Nearly one-third of American children reside in a household that makes less than 60 percent of the nation's average yearly income of about $38,000. Poverty is a major issue in America and has only gotten worse with time. The nation should take the initiative to neutralize the poverty within it because solving poverty can solve many other major health problems, cut healthcare costs, decrease the likelihood of illegal activities, and most of all, keep children living comfortably and safely within their homes.

To begin with, America has many problems stemming from poverty, and obesity is at the top of that list. According to Tawana V. McNeill, NASM Elite Trainer, "Unhealthy, highly processed foods are cheap, filling and have a long shelf life." This is quite evident amongst poor families, who are more likely to consume these and become overweight. This poor choice, made purely from necessity, also affects children who are fed this nutrient-deficient diet. Unfortunately, childhood obesity has become increasingly common, more than tripling since the 1970s. Today, one in five children between the ages of 6 and 19 years old are obese. Federal statistics suggest that obesity is linked to the level of poverty. For example, around 16 percent of whites who earn $50,000 annually are obese. In contrast, 23 percent of whites who earn $15,000 annually are obese. Low income has a greater effect on obesity in minorities within the nation. Children learn from their environments, and these examples only prepare them for a disaster. Poverty within American households needs to decrease before children have the ability to make choices for a better lifestyle.

Healthcare costs will also decrease with the decline of poverty. Lower obesity rates and easier access to medical services like vaccines and check-ups are blatant solutions to cutting the cost of healthcare. By allowing families to provide for their children, children are able to consume a sustainable amount of nutrients, encouraging them to grow into healthy adults without any setbacks. Without reducing poverty, children are more likely to contract harmful diseases and conditions like asthma and, as mentioned before, obesity; they will also be less likely to receive immunizations, resulting in possible flare-ups of old diseases once thought to be eradicated, such as polio. Detrimental diseases like polio, which may result in paralysis, within children could serve as a handicap in maturity, leaving many adults debilitated. The solution to prevent these threats is simple: provide families with the resources to protect themselves. In the end, there will be fewer visits to the emergency room and fewer mortalities within young Americans. After all, it is difficult for one to care for their child's needs when both are on the brink of death. Decreasing poverty levels is important in keeping children, as well as the rest of the nation's population, safe from disease.

Likewise, to keep children safe from illegal influences, poverty must decline. If one is desperate for employment and nearly starving to the point of expiration, what would be a quick way to make money to buy food? Drug deals, prostitution, and stealing are common options for those in that type of situation. For many families, it is the only readily available option. By setting this type of example, young children are exposed to the notion that these types of activities are perfectly normal, increasing the likelihood that they too will become corrupt. Many children in poverty have been exposed to alcohol, drugs, and the dangerous protection of gangs. With poverty skyrocketing, crime levels will only do the same. If the wealthy faction of America does not take action to stop the crime, it is doubtful that anyone will. Without providing employment and support for low-income households, no place will be safe. In other words, money can either be given in moderated amounts or otherwise taken with force, but the decision must be made by every American.

Finally, supporting impoverished households allows children to live comfortably and safely. Imagine struggling every day in order to be able to eat and going to school with insufficient supplies. Many young Americans experience this cruel life without the ability or resources to get assistance. These children are unable to fund higher education, which keeps them from the option of a stable career, thus launching them and their future families straight back into the cycle. All Americans should have the right to live comfortably, and no American should be forced to starve just to be able to afford basic necessities. By providing assistance to poor families, children are able to grow up safely in their homes and achieve greater ambitions to become better individuals. More people would be able to go to college and reminisce on their childhood in a positive view if more families were able to support themselves.

It can be argued that "comfort" is not a priority, let alone a strong reason to find the solution to poverty, but this view does not show the depth of the problem: children in poor households have lower access, if any, to healthcare, everyday supplies, and even food. To prioritize one's needs above that of a child is unfathomable to most Americans. Children should not have to suffer this kind of abuse so severely simply because of the selfish nature of humans. The contentedness of a child's home is vital for the success of future generations.

To conclude, American children should not be forced to suffer the pain of poverty. There are many methods of solving this issue, such as providing employment or even sending small donations regularly to be given to households that require support. Solving this issue will lower the chance of obesity and other diseases/conditions, cut medical costs, keep neighborhoods safe, and allow children to live comfortably. Solving this problem will not only contribute to the lives of future generations, but will also help the American people grow together as a nation to thrive. Eliminating poverty will allow America to become a better, safer nation each day. It is best to remember the less fortunate when in a position that permits charity and to provide support whenever the chance arises.

It is very honourable for me to see such a beautiful and heart touching essay on Poverty. I congratulate you for your precious words which I will surely share to many of my friends.

I wanna share my poem on the same subject poverty along with your essay so that with analytical data and facts, the lyrical influence should be engraved over people's mind.

“The eyes were constantly searching,
Searching for the food to quench the appetite.
But the stony passers were ignoring
the hungry mouths, imagining of a bite.

Poverty has become an antagonist,
In the story of starved stomachs.
Each character and himself the protagonist
Just thinks and their thumbs they sucks.

The eyes shed bitter tears
And their hearts complained to the Lord,
"O Almighty! Are we lacking in prayers
or had done the deeds so abhorred?"

Unbeatable crying, but still lives the hope
And it will live until breaks the life's rope."
