Have You?

Have You?

A Poem by John Sullivan
"

I wrote this in a writing group I attend. We did a guided meditation. The theme was the mountain, we'd all become the mountain figuratively. Here is what i did with it

"
have you ever been cruel?
the mountains stony face
suggest so

i think of those who climb my barren slope
some I welcome, others not
I extend my hand
when i may
others seem to all fall by the wayside

but I've given all I can

they never talk about the limits of love
i for one have mine
for I don't love all I've been given to love
and I pretend that thats just fine

A little poem that on an emotional level says a great deal. A courageous write I would say John. Mountains make great metaphors. So many ways to climb.

Amazing to think that meditation should erupt into a poem with such extraordinary emotional power but..
