rolling down this prairie road

rolling down this prairie road

A Poem by Joseph B Clipper

rolling down this prairie rd
with a dusty feeling in my soul
i may never make it home
hours and days pass me by
i'm so dry i cant even cry
except for the moon i'm alone
natually my worst mistake
was to head this desert waste
thinking it would be all so easy
i'm just a young forty niner
i'm just looking to cut some corners
gold waits for those who are lucky
when night comes i kneel and pray
god dont let me die this way
save me i wont go wrong
i'll make myself a better man
i'll work as hard as i can
give up all the wine women and song
