Klipped

Klipped

A Poem by JOe
"

I guess we all know this person, and this is what growing up is really about

"
Is this what we call best friends?
Destroy my life so you're all I have.
I pretend that nothing brings me down.
But I can't live if my barricade is rusted.

You know you can't take up all my time
If I don't get a bit of yours anymore.
You know there's no reason and no rhyme
For you to have kicked me out the door

And I know that we are one in the same
I always knew --
If I had met myself in someone else I'd be so disappointed with all of us
But I've never been so disappointed as when you became someone else

You don't hit the bottle, you just hold it like your best friend!

I can't pretend that I never felt like I should die
Over the fact that I couldn't offer the same support as wine
Tell me how you kicked the habit
I never once thought that habit would be me
