Herald the Night

Herald the Night

A Poem by JPatrickAusanka

Slick guitars and rythmic blues
"Flamingo Cantina!" barks the moon
we eloped with Street Light Suzie
we all ravaged her secret beauty

late nights and street lights,
high-heeled sweet thighs,
fashion goddess' seduction rights
we make love to Texas nights

assay the staring social glare
moral malfunction is taxi fare
we catch another lustful glance
reach for me and start to dance

choke and stomach this abuse
of cigarette smoke, distilled blues
catch a glimpse to excuse
 your fatal, failing, moral sinews.
