Sickness/Power

Sickness/Power

A Poem by Joshua Gerlach

I dare not take a breath, your perfume is a poison which may seduce me, my will power is failing and my strength leaves me when you're near.

You make me weak, you buckle my knees, you sicken my stomach.

Why do I want more of you?
I love you enough to give into your ways which I know well...if only I knew who you were.

Steal me from here, let me know you, show me who you are and love me as I am, because I need you to.
You are a vague grayness, a blur; a silhouette of a woman I do not know, yet I know you very well.
Tell me your name and save me from this nightmare, show me your face and deliver me to your love.
Step into the light, the darkness you’re in angers me, I cannot see you, but your perfume is overwhelming, I smell it on your neck, your wrists and it consumes me in it’s fragrance.
If only I knew your name.
