Forever Rachel

Forever Rachel

A Poem by Jack Necron (Aubrey Jack Peaslee)
"

One of the oldest poems I wrote, back from 2009. Based on Locke's tragedy from FF6.

"
I’d known you since we were children,
And at the time I viewed you as a friend.
We had so many good times then,
But I started to feel something I couldn’t comprehend.

You’d put me in a state of reverence
And fill my heart with fire.
My passion for you was intense,
The ultimate desire.

As we grew older,
I wanted to say it so badly,
The thought was looming on my shoulder.
But when I wanted to, it was too late sadly.

“Locke! What are we going to do today?”

“It's almost your birthday so….”

“Locke! Look out!”

“Rachel!”

Why did I wait so long?
I let the fright block out the emotion
Because I just wasn’t strong,
And allowed myself to be taken by a dark halation.

I wanted to tell you that day,
All of it was so built up inside.
There was so much I needed to say,
But the words will be eternally denied.

“Rachel! Are you alright?”

“I…who am I? Where am I? I don’t remember…”

Her image was looking at me
But the Rachel I knew was gone.
It seems that Fate and I didn’t agree,
And my soul faded that next dawn.

Every tear that fell
Was like a piece of my soul.
I ventured further into this hell
As my world became bleak as coal.

“Get out of my house! It's your fault my daughter lost her memory!”

“Wait! Just let me talk to her...!”

“Please, go away! I don't know who you are, but my parents get
upset whenever you come here!”

She didn’t remember me
And I felt so alienated.
I wanted to throw myself to the raging sea
Over the knowledge that we would not be conjugated.

I fled that town,
As I tried to fight a change of mind.
I would never see Rachel in a bridal gown,
That was yet another dream left behind.

A year went by... When I finally returned, I found out that a burglar entered her house. Rachel startled him and she was killed. While bedridden, she regained her memory. The last thing she said was...my name. I never should have left her side.

I…failed her….
Rachel…in my heart forever.
