Train Doors

Train Doors

A Poem by Jacko Pook

Train Doors

Of all the places to fall in love

But

A room unkept

I'd faulted on monthly repayments on the rent

Pizza boxes, unwashed kitchenware,

Letters in red ink

What a place for a forbidden, secret kiss.

Of all the places to learn a lesson in love

But

A train station

I've too much pride to run

For a train I might miss.

At least walking I'll never sprint only for the

Doors

To close on me last minute.

Of all the places to fall in love again

But

A kitchen with a leaky tap

Nothing next but the text

That told me why I ran for your train

And why the pride didn't stop a thing.
