H(h?)eliophelia

A Poem by Jacqueline Murray
"

"
I've heard it said (
in my own mind
)
that heliophiles always carry "c"oncubines in their back pcokets.

Making mixed drinks of rubbing alcohol with
various fruits bobbing in the sterile liquid because
they "love life"

(the heliophiles, not the fruits, that is).

Stuffing mouths (
their own
)
full of tar and feathers because
it's rude to discriminate, even
about what passes between one's lips.

They love to feel full because it turns the gap
between the metro and the platform into
a
black
hole,

through which even emptiness cannot escape.
