Worn out novelty

A girl who loved without limits gave her love to a man who failed to see her attempts at loving him. The world wrote him off, she didn't give up on him, but he gave up on her long before she realized.

She's just white noise in the background. She's just a friend in times of need. 

She leverages all for a fleeting glance of appreciation or acknowledgment for a good deed. 

She took what was broken and drew strength from up above, 

She said it's okay if you are broken, I will just cover you with all my love. 

She loved him without limits, in him she saw her King. 

All she wanted was for him to have a presence, all she wanted was for him to win. 

He buckled the straps of her pink shoes, he kissed her on her head. 

He made her world colorful, "You're a deserving woman he said" 

She felt affection she never knew. 

He made her demons vanish and gave her the love that she was due. 

But time and tide changed and brought change so great. 

The colors quickly faded, love was not her fate. 

Oh, the familiar feeling of being rejected and denied. The tears poured out was nothing compared to what raged inside. 

Years past and the broken was now a whole, 

She bitterly existed but there was emptiness in her soul. 

She needed his love, without having it summoned, 

but the novelty of her love had finally come undone. 

Existing in each other's shadows trying not to offend the peace but one can't deny what is evidently indifference. 

She's just a white noise in the background. Shes just a companion in times of need. 

She is a form of comfort but nothing more than that it seemed.
