For Every Soldier

I was thinking one night, and I decided to write this poem. The thought came across my mind when the song "Hall of Fame" by The Script came onto the radio.

What am I to claim? 

Surely not the hall of fame.

The greatest in life are those who've died,

Risking their lives with all their might.

Every fallen soldier has a story,

And all up hail to their glory.

Those weak and strong, 

joined together to fight the wrong.

In dedication there have been many a song,

For all those remembered throughout history long.

They died to save American lives, 

so we all can keep our American rights,

So let’s remember their almighty pride.

For every soldier there is a family. 

Even so sad, they died happily

Knowing what they were fighting for, 

saving those rich and poor,

And most importantly the children they bore.

Many cannot grasp the effect of what war can reflect.

Soldiers coming home with so much stress, 

all their families can do is guess.

So here I say to every soldier "God Bless!"

If it wasn't for you, the world would be a bigger mess.

Praise every soldier and veteran you see,

because they’re the ones who fight across the sea.
