Mother Mine

Mother Mine

A Poem by Jahziel
"

Baby Mine was the lullaby chosen by my mother for me, and as I feel our relationship tatter, my own rendition was created.

"

Mother Mine

Baby mine was my lullaby

You sang it to me as you dried my eyes

As you tucked me in at the end of the day

And you helped me pray my sins away

Mother mine is the line I cry

As melancholic tears fill my eyes

Craving deep the bond once there

Stripped from we by religion and fear

Dumbo's mom had chains of steal

My mom has chains made of god's will

God’s will comes first before me

A fact as true as dumbos ears are hefty

Baby mine was my lullaby

Now transformed to a hymn one cries

A relationship now set to travel

To the cemeteries lonesome gravel

Mother Mine how I hope I find

The words to please help you change your mind

Place me once before heavens doors

Or I fear you won’t hear from me no more
