Flower

Flower

A Poem by Phoenix

Days not knowing

Days not feeling.

What was never seen,

Until one day

Opens in a shower

Bursting open

Like a newborn flower.
It opens once

And grows and grows,

To all the world it shows…

And yet it doesn’t.

This beauty

This feeling

This flower inside you,

That grows and grows

Yet never shows.

But is given to someone

Whoever you will it to…

Then it will show through.

Author's Note

Phoenix
I wrote this when I was 13, in the middle of a crush I had on a boy through 7th and 8th grade. Reading this now, for the first time in over 5 years, I got a tremendous chill up my spine. How similar it is to my poems now! And to “Darkling” especially! It’s like a preview of what was to come.
This “flower” that grew and grew, that never showed, that no one would take…..bloomed and withered and died. Now it’s just a pathetic little darkling……something - not even a flower any more.

Awwww, I love this! I like how you rhyme but don't rhyme. Wish I could do that :(

well, if you read what was not written, the individual is the root of the plant. And if that is the case, you will grow another flower no matter the fate of the first....eventually.

I have so many ideas and feelings, and they usually buzz around inside me wildly. When I can gather up enough of them, then a piece of writing emerges and I feel refreshed. more..
