The days

The days

A Poem by Jake Staffeld

From my sleep craving mind comes this... I have no idea if its good or bad or what.

I long for the days
When I was angry
Felt the red rage boiling over
Onto the white of my soul

I miss the days when
I was happy
Feeling things like euphoria
Cleansing my heart

I search for the days
When I was in pain
When my blood still spilled
Confirming that I was still alive

These days
I'm only ever sad
I can't even hurt anymore
It's like a vast emptiness inside

I don't know what I want
I'm sad and tired and confused
But it all seems so clear
When I'm dreaming

Grasping at illusions
Of strings pure white
Gripping balloons of silk
Protecting a diamond heart

Holding on to what I was
Pulling in who I will be
With tethers made of destiny
And ropes made of sorrow

These days
I sometimes wish it was all over
Then that everything would last forever
Confusing time for life

We do change. Sometime for the better and sometime for the worst. I was a angry kid. Today I wish I had the anger and ability to laugh again. I like the poem. Made me think about what I became. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.

Very powerful.. Wanting to feel pain just to know your alive is far to common of a thought and feeling.. You really did a great job describing how one feels while lost in the fog of illusions...x

I'm afraid it's what happens my friend we build up a tollerance to the pain, but never succumb to the feeling nothing will ever touch you deep again there are more appealing pleasures than pain, be joyful that you still have time to enjoy the everyday beauties so many have learned to take for granted like the rain flowers and just being free to run bare foot through your field of dreams screaming at the sky lol. Tomorrows another day grab it with both hands and squeeze every last Moment out of it because time is fleeting and one day soon you'll wonder where yesterday went.
