The shining mirror

The shining mirror

A Poem by Jameel Mohamed

Sitting on the edge
These winds blow swiftly yet strongly
Dipping my hand lower,
Onto this shining mirror
Barely touching its surface,
These ripples radiate
I try to look in,
Only to find everything is blurry
For time will restore its calmness
Just the way it restores peace to every heart that needs it.

I like the vivid imagery. The mentioning of how the "winds blow" helped to pull me into the scene instead of just seeing it from the outside. I also think it's thought provoking. One could come to a multitude of conclusions by considering what it means to be the one to disturb the "shining mirror", and the one to look for the "[restoration of] its calmness".

I enjoyed reading this!
