My Lady

My Lady

A Poem by James Mayfield
"

Poe-esque I hope

"

My lady stands in the night

Amidst the early winters chill

Staring faithfully to the stars

To her chest she clutches

A worn and weathered tome

It's pages long lost to time

But she remembers

She remembers lines of hope

And of sadness

Of prophecies long lost

She remembers times of love

And the lack thereof

This book she clutches

To her bosom tightly

As ivy climbs her steady form

The book of her life

Her forgotten memoires

She holds in keeping

Until the ivy

Claims them both

You've drawn a very fine picture with well chosen words. And I think this picture is going to stay with me for a long time.

The book of her life

Her forgotten memoires

She holds in keeping

Until the ivy

Claims them both

The ending is superb.
I really liked this one. Lots.

This is a great write and even if I did not know what statue you were writing about, I would be able to visualize it.
