Dead ManA Poem by James CheAn old friend and lover resurfaces after the death of a loved one.
Dead Man
Today i wore a dead man's belt in hopes that you would see me. I dreamed you could hear me through the pale light in my room. I liked the light that flickered in your eyes. My did the same when i saw my screen yesterday. Something dormant bubbled inside of me. Conjuring something deep and buried, an old wound, a dead man. I waited for hours to reply to your words, i couldn't muster a sentence together. The strings of my silence kept me stuck and quiet. What would i say to a shadow of you? Sometimes i see you but it's not real. Your message makes me queasy, uneasy and wavering, like a pool of water. I quickly type back something closed and cold. I don't want to open myself up again.
