Summer Guests

Summer Guests

A Poem by James

Last night I cooked a feast for ten

Steak and pork, with Cornish hen

My family and friends all gathered close

Talked and laughed and drank a toast

To me and them and much, much more

To love and friends - and those lost to war

We drank until the pitcher ran dry

Then hugged and cried and said goodbye

I know I will miss my dear summer guests

I just wish they would stay to clean up the mess

nothing like echoing that phrase "eat and run"

but sounds like the conversation, food and hugs were worth a little mess...

nothing like togetherness....there used to be much more of that, many years ago.
