After witnessing a sea turtle hatch

Grains of sand rolling
Tiny shells fight to be free
Disappear in waves

This is a nice haiku. It's certainly vivid and evokes a strong emotional impact considering it's length. I consider this to be a little sad, mainly because many of the ones that "disappear in waves" won't live that long ... I'm not sure if that was your intention or not. Nevertheless, I enjoyed this piece. Thanks for sharing.

I'm glad you liked this, and maybe a little sad, but I didn't see it that way. I wrote this after watching a sea turtle nest hatch one night (I live on the coast.) It was an amazing thing to see.

It was so cool. We live at Topsail Island, NC and its a big turtle nesting island. This was the first time we got to see a nest hatch.
