The Fire

A man's selfish view of his world. This is another attempt at a 100 word story.

Who’s this face in the mirror, it’s scarred exterior foreign in nature. “Oh poor thing,” is all I hear as people walk by in the streets. A few have the gull to stop and stare. But what am I, huh? I’m just a man; a broken man treated like a dog in the street. My wife… My kids… Where were you when I needed you? Now you’ve left me to die in this alley among the trash. All that’s left is this bottle, my one and true friend. The fire has destroyed me. The fire has made me a monster!
