Leaden Day

Leaden Day

A Poem by Jamie Starlight

The sky on a leaden day

Unsharp, artistically vague

Experiences vary depending on perspective

In mine It’s perched by a raindrop varnished window

Wondering what it would feel like to just walk out the door into the storm

The freedom to wander wherever the tempest tumults

These walls are suffocating my good spirits, I’m not sure who I am

Just a tiny creature in a cage within a cage surrounded by nothingness; Infinite nothingness

Or am I a mind filled with schemes and possibility, lacking the spark of free rein

Neither fixes the reality of loneliness in an enclosed room

Freedom a broken glass pane away

Consequence keeps my bare feet chained on the floor

Expectation keeps my mind disciplined to insignificancy

Stress keeps my hands glued to the keyboard

Forget about the grey sky, it means nothing
