Tyne Cot

Tyne Cot

A Poem by Jan Theuninck
"

about the first world war and about any war

"

when you left

for the front

you were

living heroes

and now

you are on top

of the hill

where only

poppies

blow..........

This is a sad and well penned short poem.

Short but a powerful reminder of the tragedy of war.

The name Tyne Cot refers to Tyne Cot Cemetery, the largest cemetery for Commonwealth forces in the world.

The Dutch version is cut in the corten steel wall of the library in Zonnebeke, Belgium(photo) .
