Redecorate (2)

Redecorate (2)

A Poem by JanMarie
"

Poem #2 in a three part series about the man I loved and feared...

"

When he is gone, I'll change decor
Within my living space.
The room I see within my mind
Is etched with simple grace.

It's white and black, but mostly white;
The boundaries clearly seen:
White headboard stops, white wall begins,
A strip of black between.

The nightmare grays are not allowed,
And colors complicate.
I shield my eyes from rainbow lies;
Dark shades intimidate.

I've planned the art: Use Escher's work
(Such cyclic clarity)
Hand drawing hand; unending stairs
(A warning there for me).

The focal point: a sketch of Christ,
His hour of death drawn near,
A haunting look, a grievous wince,
A single blood red tear.

I crave this room, my living space,
Defined with solid rule.
While he is here, I shed the tear,
A martyr and a fool.

this is well done. the flow reads smoothly and the images are vivid. i like "nightmare grays" and "rainbow lies" especially. and of course the reference to escher. this is emotional without being to woe is me, a pleasant characteristic. nicely penned.
